Who are you?
Are your EAN / UPC barcodes legal and am I entitled to use them?
Our barcodes are perfectly legal. Our barcodes are authentic UCC/EAN 13-digit codes which have been issued before 2002, before GS1 came into existence. GS1 is the only entity able to allocate barcodes nowadays. You may purchase them and use them lawfully since our codes are prior to 2002.
What difference is there between you and GS1?
GS1 is the only entity in the world able to allocate codes nowadays. The difference with us lies in the fact that our codes are already allocated to companies and that this allocation shall not change. Unlike GS1, no subscription is therefore required. In return, the identity featured on GS1’s database will not be that of the company purchasing our codes (you), but that of an American company.
Have your EAN / UPC codes been used before?
Our EAN / UPC codes have never been used. You are the sole proprietor of the codes you have purchased. You may therefore use them without running the slightest risk that they may be rejected.
What difference is there between being allocated an EAN / UPC code and the fact that an EAN / UPC code has not been used?
You must not get the GS1 database mixed up with the database of your partners (for instance resellers, distributors, marketplaces) who sell, distribute and/or publish your product(s). The identity featured on the GS1 database is that of the member who was allocated the code; the identity that appears (as well as further information such as the product reference and price) when scanning a code or conducting a search using an EAN / UPC code on a price comparator or marketplace is the one which was registered during the submission of your product(s) with your partners.
Can GS1 ask me to pay for these EAN / UPC codes once I have acquired them?
No. GS1 is bound by court order to maintain the barcode database preceding its existence without requesting that their owners pay a subscription. You will therefore be able to use these codes “for life” without anyone asking you to pay for any other sum than the one you must pay to acquire barcodes from us.
Will purchasing your EAN / UPC codes cause me to be registered with GS1?
No. Your codes will be listed at GS1 and be identifiable on the entity’s official website using the following address: https://gepir.gs1.org/index.php/search-by-gtin. But your code’s identification number will not be a number offering personal identification. To this day, only GS1 is entitled to allocate a personal prefix to companies who become members and pay a subscription to this end.
I could do with some English codes for my products. Do your codes include an English prefix?
No. Our codes are American. Only GS1 will enable you to obtain codes other than American codes. The prefix nevertheless only bears importance if you consider it has an impact on your image. You are in no way obligated to solely use English codes if you are English.
Will I be able to use your EAN / UPC codes everywhere?
Yes. Our EAN / UPC codes are accepted everywhere.
Can your codes be used everywhere throughout the world?
You can use our codes in all countries around the world.
Are your codes valid for all types of products?
Our codes are valid for all types of products.
Should I send you the information regarding my products so that you may register them at the point of purchase?
You have no information to pass on to us since we do not register any product. An EAN / UPC code is allocated to a company and not a product. Your partners will be the ones to pair your code to your product within their own database.
Are you able to add information on barcode images?
We do not deal with the graphic part that subsequently follows the sale of the EAN / UPC code, but we do offer an online solution which will enable you to download and print, with a large number of options, label sheets which include your codes and the information you wish to see featured on the image or not, such as the code number or product reference.
When I for instance purchase an EAN / UPC barcode x 5, do I receive five different codes or five times the same code?
When you for instance purchase an EAN / UPC barcode x 5, you receive five different codes which can be used for five different products.
When will I receive my EAN / UPC codes?
You will be able to download your codes directly in your personal account (see “My Account”) as soon as you have completed your payment. The codes can be downloaded for 7 days in the form of a list within a text file. Codes are concurrently and automatically emailed to you as soon as the payment process has been successfully completed. In the event that you do not instantly receive them, we suggest that you log into your personal account.
If I do not download my codes within the 7-day limit, will I be able to ask you to send them again?
No. Once the codes have been sold and the 7-day period is over, your codes are automatically destroyed. It is impossible for us to send them back to you manually. We therefore recommend you download them as soon as you have completed your payment.
With which software program(s) can I read my codes?
The file featuring your EAN / UPC codes must be opened with a simple text editor. If you copy codes onto a spreadsheet, remember beforehand to format cells by selecting “number”.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept credit card payments and PayPal payments. Credit card payments are processed securely by PayPal but no registration to their website is required if you do not have an account.
Are your prices tax-inclusive or not?
Our prices on display are ex-Tax. The VAT is added from the moment you add the product to your cart. If you are a EuropEAN / UPC professional who has an intra-Community VAT number, you will be invited to enter the latter during the order process. Your number will be automatically analyzed and if your number is accurate, no VAT will be added. If you are neither French nor EuropEAN / UPC, your price will not be subject to tax, you will pay the price that appears.
Do you supply an invoice for the purchase of your EAN / UPC codes?
Yes. Invoices are automatically generated and can be downloaded in a PDF format directly in your account as soon as your payment has been completed. They are also concurrently and automatically emailed to you.
I am a private individual and not a company, may I buy codes from you?
Our website mainly appeals to companies but private individuals can very well purchase our codes. We make no restrictions.
Do you offer a refund if I wish to cancel my purchase?
No, since these are digital products which do not come under any cancellation clause. We furthermore need to maintain the guarantee that our codes have never been used before they are sold. We cannot control the use a client makes of our EAN / UPC codes once the latter have been sold. This is why you are unable to return them, and we therefore, cannot offer refunds.
Should I be distrustful of cheaper codes I have found elsewhere?
Beware of low-priced EAN / UPC codes if you come across any! They may prove to be fake codes. These codes have strictly no value since they are a mere series of digits which have been entirely made up. The only GENUINE EAN / UPC codes are listed on the GS1 database, available at the following address: https://gepir.gs1.org/index.php/search-by-gtin. Very few companies throughout the world own unused EAN / UPC codes produced prior to 2002, which is why some sellers, failing to own genuine codes, offer fake ones. These codes are rarely accepted by distributors and marketplaces and when they are, it only lasts as long as it takes for distributors or marketplaces to look up the GS1 database that shows the code is fake: “Key GTIN has wrong check digit”. In the case of marketplaces, a deletion of product fact sheets automatically follows this discovery without any prior notice… Furthermore, sellers who offer a certificate stating that their codes are genuine are just confirming their desire to swindle clients; such a certificate is of no value whatsoever.
